Summary

The Interim Director of IT will collaborate with executive leaders and department heads as a strategic partner to provide in-depth technical expertise to support business decisions and IT initiatives. The Interim Director of IT will lead the day-to-day IT operations and project delivery and is responsible for driving implementation of best practices for optimizing infrastructure and operation costs.

Essential Functions
  • Develop and operationalize Information Technology strategies; Recommend short- and long-term IT goals and objectives aligned to strategic priorities to executive leadership.
  • Provide strategic advice to key leaders and division/department heads on all technology matters
  • Ensure a focus on business alignment within the IT function, be accountable for outcomes, and continuous improvement; Drive change and innovation while balancing business, infrastructure, and technology needs.
  • Help mitigate risks in business continuity and cyber security.
  • Ensure key business strategies and processes are supported by technology systems that enable growth and flexibility.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to IT department to achieve secure, reliable, and cost-effective operations of IT infrastructure and applications.
  • Seek and evaluate emerging technologies and educate stakeholders on the potential for new technologies to deliver return on investment by enabling business innovation, efficiency, and competitive advantage.
  • Lead and mentor a team of IT professionals, leading them to meet or exceed expectations for productivity, quality, and achievement.
  • Oversee and manage capital projects to ensure target dates and budget expectations are met.
  • Ensure service-level requirements are met while upholding all governance standards.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with most recent experience consisting of leading an organizations IT operations, systems and teams.
  • Ability to translate complex technical terminology, concepts, and issues in terms understandable to technical and non-technical team members as well as executive level audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills to resolve problems in a professional manner as well as participate in working groups
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities as well as establish and meet deadlines
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability as well as willingness to create documentation of activities, processes and procedures
  • Maintains a customer service mindset both to internal staff and stakeholders
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field 
Job Type
  • Contractor/1099 – Approximately 20 hours/week
This is a hybrid remote opportunity that will require occasional on-site work in Bedford County, VA
