Senior Director of Data & Analytics - Consumer Technology Association

Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Director of Data & Analytics to lead the transformation of our non-profit organization into a data-driven powerhouse. As a key member of the leadership team, you will shape the strategy, governance, and execution of data initiatives to better understand member behaviors, inform decision-making, and propel the organization’s mission. This role offers the opportunity to build a high-performing data function from the ground up, driving insights that benefit our diverse member base and align with our organizational goals. The Senior Director of Data and Analytics will report to the COO and will be a leader within CTA’s Administrative and Finance division.


Critical Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Data Strategy and Leadership
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive data and analytics strategy to enhance the organization’s data maturity and decision-making capabilities.
    • Promote a data-driven culture across the organization, championing the use of analytics to support business objectives.
    • Act as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, delivering actionable insights that inform organizational priorities and member engagement.
  • Team Building and Development
    • Recruit, mentor, and manage a small, high-performing data and analytics team.
    • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages professional growth and continuous learning.
  • Analytics and Insights
    • Lead efforts to analyze member behaviors, preferences, and engagement to drive targeted programs and services.
    • Develop dashboards, reports, and advanced analytics models to provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
    • Design strategies to better understand the impact of events, member services, and advocacy efforts on the organization’s goals.
  • Data Governance and Management
    • Establish best practices for data governance, ensuring data quality, accuracy, security, and compliance.
    • Oversee data integration from disparate systems, creating a unified view of organizational and member data.
    • Implement modern data tools and technologies to support efficient data collection, storage, and analysis.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Establish a strong partnership with CTA’s VP of Information Technology (J. Heavner) and the IT organization. Work collaboratively to ensure all data architecture, management, governance, services and analytical tools align with the current and emerging technology strategy and operations.
    • Partner with departments such as events, research, advocacy, and membership to identify data needs and develop tailored solutions.
    • Drive initiatives to support standardization and automation of data processes across the organization.
  • Additional Information
    • Travel to Las Vegas for CES is required.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Work Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience in analytics, data management, or business intelligence, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
Education/Training:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field.
Skills/Capabilities/Technical:
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver impactful insights that drive organizational goals and improve decision-making.
  • Proficiency with modern data tools and platforms, including visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, integration, and governance best practices.
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders to align analytics projects with strategic priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Leadership skills, including team management, strategic thinking, and influencing change.
